Bagaimana Jika MotoGP Tanpa Valentino Rossi?
INFOKA.ID – Ada dugaan bulan depan Valentino Rossi akan mengumumkan pensiun. Dugaan itu sebelumnya dilontarkan oleh sosok yang tak asing dengan dunia balap motor, Carlo Pernat.
Sosok yang juga kolumnis dan manajer rider itu memprediksi Rossi akan bikin pengumuman saat balapan di Mugello dalam seri MotoGP Italia.
“Aku sudah pernah menyatakan pemikiranku: waktunya (Rossi pensiun) sudah tiba,” kata Pernat, dikutip dari Detikcom, Sabtu (1/5/2021).
“Aku mengatakan ini dengan afeksi besar dan rasa syukur yang sama besarnya, bahwa diriku dan orang-orang yang berkecimpung di dunia balap pada saat ini memiliki sebuah utang besar terhadap dirinya. Setelah Jerez dan LeMans, kita akan tiba di Mugello. Di sana, di depan pendukungnya, sesuatu akan terjadi walaupun itu semata pendapat diriku pribadi. Di sanalah Valentino Rossi akan pensiun,” tuturnya.
Dengan usia dan performa Valentino Rossi di MotoGP saat ini, opsi pensiun memang terbilang realistis. Umur the Doctor sudah 42 tahun. Ia pun kesulitan menampilkan performa terbaik dari tiga seri awal MotoGP 2021.
Pada masa jayanya, setumpuk rekor pun telah Valentino Rossi torehkan. Bahkan saat kariernya kini terus dipenuhi spekulasi, Rossi masih mengejar podium ke-200 di kelas utama (usai meraih 23 podium 500cc dan 176 di MotoGP).
Namun, seperti yang dikatakan Pernat, Rossi kini bukan cuma harus bertarung dengan para rival atau menaklukkan tunggangan, tapi juga menghadapi satu ‘musuh’ alamiah manusia: usia.
Entah apakah prediksi Pernat akan terbukti, mengenai Rossi mengumumkan gantung helm dalam gelaran MotoGP Italia. Yang pasti, seperti juga Pernat katakan, VR46 sudah sedemikian berkontribusi pada lintasan grand prix. Jika pun ia nantinya pensiun, ada sejumlah rider muda jebolan akademi Rossi yang akan menjadi ‘pewaris’. (*)
