Resmi, Mario Mandzukic Gantung Sepatu!
INFOKA.ID – Mario Mandzukic resmi mengumumkan pensiun sebagai pemain sepak bola, Jumat (3/9/2021). Striker asal Kroasia itu gantung sepatu setelah berkarier secara profesional sejak 2004.
Mandzukic memutuskan untuk menyudahi karier sebagai pesepak bola profesional di usianya ke-35 tahun.
Mandzukic menghabiskan musim lalu bersama AC Milan selama enam bulan. Dia sempat menganggur di paruh pertama musim 2020/2021 usai kontraknya diputus klub Qatar Al-Duhail.
Sayangnya, karier Mandzukic bersama Milan tidak mulus karena lebih sering berada di bangku cadangan atau ruang perawatan. Dia tampil 11 kali tanpa mencetak satu gol pun.
Ketika bursa transfer musim panas berakhir, Mandzukic rupanya tak kunjung mendapat klub baru. Alhasil, Mandzukic memutuskan pensiun dari dunia yang membesarkan namanya itu, Jumat (3/9/2021) malam WIB.
Mandzukic membuat unggahan di akun instagramnya berisikan surat yang ditujukan kepada dirinya saat masih kanak-kanak.
“Kepada Mario Kecil. Ketika kamu pertama kali mengenakan sepatu bola ini, kamu mungkin tidak pernah berpikir apa yang akan kamu rasakan di sepakbola. Kamu bakal mencetak gol-gol di turnamen besar dan kamu bakal memenangi trofi-trofi bergengsi bersama klub besar. Dengan bangga membela negaramu, kamu membantu menulis sejarah dalam olahraga Kroasia,” ujar Mandzukic.
“Kamu bisa sukses karena banyak orang-orang hebat di sekitarmu – rekan setim, pelatih, fans, keluarga, agen, dan juga teman-teman yang selalu ada untukmu. Kamu akan bersyukur memiliki mereka semua.”
Mandzukic memulai karier profesionalnya pada 2004 bersama klub Kroasia Marsonia. Dia pindah ke NK Zagreb setahun setelahnya dan kemudian memperkuat klub besar Dinamo Zagreb sedari 2007 hingga 2010.
Nama Mandzukic mulai dikenal saat bermain di Bundesliga bersama Wolfsburg pada 2010. Dua tahun di sana, Mandzukic menarik perhatian Bayern Munich yang kemudian merekrutnya.
Puncak kariernya boleh dibilang di klub ini karena dia jadi bagian klub yang memenangi enam gelar selama setahun pada 2013. Dia sempat semusim memperkuat Atletico Madrid pada 2014/2015.
Mario Mandzukic paling lama bermain di Juventus yakni sedari 2015 hingga 2019 dengan 44 gol dari 162 laga, sebelum pindah ke Al Duhail di tahun tersebut.
Mandzukic meraih empat gelar Scudetto bersama Juventus dan sempat mencetak gol di final Liga Champions 2016/2017, meski kalah 1-4 dari Real Madrid.
Di level timnas, Mandzukic berperan besar mengantarkan negaranya jadi runner-up Piala Dunia 2018. Mandzukic total punya 89 caps dan 33 gol. (*)
